Let me say again that I see God doing four great things in the earth today, and they concern Israel, the church, the nations, and the gospel.
- God is causing the Jewish people to return to their land from the four corners of the earth.
- God is empowering the church to take the gospel to all nations.
- God is preparing the church to meet her bridegroom.
- God is shaking everything that can be shaken.
While the first of these is the subject of our current series, it will do us well to have a brief understanding of each. Today let’s discuss briefly why it is important for you to understand these four great movements and goals of the Lord.
You may be thinking that these matters are too grandiose for “little old me.” You have your life to live and you have enough on your plate just living life. This is not true. As a Christian you have a great call on your life. We are not all called to the same thing, but we are all called to be everything we can be for Christ. We are called to honor him, become more like him, bear fruit for him, tell others about him, and to live our lives in such a way that we bring him glory.
Listen to what Jesus said in John 5:19-20:
19 Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner. 20 For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel.
Jesus needed to see what the father was doing in order that he could cooperate with him and do things in the same manner. Jesus also says something wonderful here — that the father shows him all things that he does.
If you will think it through, I believe you can see how each of the four great things God is doing in the earth is relevant to you and to your life as a Christian. They afford the “big picture” for you to fit your life into.
First, knowing about what God is doing in Israel will lead to a doctrine that establishes your faith to be strong and resilient in times of shaking and affords an antidote against deception. You will be able to make sense of current events and be able to discern Satan’s strategies as well. You may even be able to use current events in witnessing to friends and neighbors. Additionally, this will empower you to pray for God’s will to be done in and through Israel and the Jewish people.
Secondly, knowing the priority of taking the gospel to all nations will fuel your prayers and your own witnessing. You will want to become more knowledgable about the missionary work around the world.
Thirdly, as part of the bride of Christ, you will be more diligent to be ready for the time we all meet him. Knowing the Father is preparing a bride you will take more seriously the work of righteousness, holiness, and fruitfulness in your own life. When you know this is a high priority with God, you can be more knowledgable as to the strategies of the enemy warring against you and the church.
Finally, it is very important for everyone to know about the shaking going on in the earth. You need to know that it will be happening and why it is happening. This will solidify your faith and provide witnessing opportunities from time to time.
All four of these great movements help to define the season in which we are living. It is important we know about seasons. When I am preparing for a trip I study what the weather is to be like so I know what clothes to pack. We just made a trip to Colorado where the weather can vary greatly. We packed summer clothes because the weather was going to be warm. The previous time we went however, I packed the chains in case we encountered snow, which we did! (To be totally honest I packed the chains at the urging of my prophetic wife!)
Jesus tells us to watch and be alert. Listen to Jesus from Mark 13:
Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is. It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming—in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning— And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!”
Knowing the great plans and movements of God tells us what to be watching for! We are equipped and ready.
